Asterisk 1.6 usable now?

Is Asterisk 1.6 usable yet ?
I can't give my customers phone systems where handsets in the ring groups count up "missed calls" every time someone else in the ring group takes the call. This was fixed in Asterisk 1.6.

cheers,
Carl

Re: Asterisk 1.6 usable now?

Hi Carl,

Asterisk 1.6 in Switchfin was kind of experimental and it was never made stable enough for production boxes. Long term we have to try Asterisk 1.8 instead.

I recommend you stay with Asterisk 1.4 for now if you want to use Switchfin.

Cheers
Dimitar

Also very few phones support the Answered-Elsewhere header.

Re: Asterisk 1.6 usable now?

OK thanks. I will continue to try to find a viable x86 solution to run off a Nettop then.

I realise not all phones support the answered-elsewhere reason code, but then of course I will only offer solutions using phones that do support it. I hear the Snom phones work, and I have moved from Polycom to Snom anyway because of the excellent support / forums, and the inbuilt 12 speeddial/led/blf keys.

Yes the snom phones support it well. You might want to look at FreeSWITCH to run on your x86 box too, it's an excellent product.

Re: Asterisk 1.6 usable now?

Yes but there's no usable GUI!
BlueBox is missing lots of vital features.

FreePBX/Asterisk is perfect except for the name. I have big doubts about being able to market a system to small business customers when it's called "Free PBX".
